Charles Darwin University (CDU) and Victoria University (VU) have agreed to work together to expand the leadership capability of staff within the two institutions.
Charles Darwin University and Victoria University share a common attribute in that they are two of only five dual sector universities Australia-wide.
The Partnering in Leadership program will assist both universities to achieve their overall strategic objectives. It will not only build and extend the capacity of the participants but also their sponsors and staff.
Using a community of practice in leadership, it will discuss, trial and review approaches and solve problems. It will also build the partnering relationship between the two universities for future collaborative projects.
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Garnett believes: “The partnership will develop leadership capabilities within a complex environment, especially in the management levels, so as to achieve the universities strategic goals.
“Many networking and benchmarking opportunities will become available as a result, as will the opportunity to review an action learning model between CDU and VU,” she said.
Director, People Management and Development, Celia Pollard said: “This project is designed to address specific needs of the two universities and is closely tied to the overall strategic objectives of both organisations. At CDU this project is a centre piece of the People Management and Development Strategy 2006-08, which is underpinned by a Staff Professional Development Strategy and a Workforce Planning Strategy.”
If you are interested in being involved in this project, Expressions of Interest are currently being sought from People Management and Development, contact Sharon Couzens on 6601. Applications close at 5pm on Friday, August 4, 2006.
