Get a heads up on campus life during Orientation activities at CDU campuses in Darwin and Alice Springs tomorrow, Wednesday 26 July 2006.
CDU Careers and Student recruitment coordinator Adelia Mu-Prasad says Orientation is designed to offer students a chance to get familiar with the what, where, when and how of life at university before they turn up for their first lecture.
“At Casuarina campus activities begin with a Welcome BBQ at 4pm where new students, those returning to study or re-enrolling can meet lecturers, support staff and other students and then head out to make the most of the talks, info stands and entertainment.
“They can join recent graduates on a tour of the campus, get a rundown on library services, attend briefings on student rights, drop in for wine and cheese with faculty members and get familiar with student services and facilities including sporting and child care services,” Ms Mu-Prasad said.
The CDU Bookshop and Uni Info Shop will be open to 6pm and there will be a musical performance by CDU student Lee Chisolm on grassy knoll outside the Mal Nairn Auditorium. Welcome BBQ from 4pm to 6pm.
At CDU Alice Springs Campus Orientation activities will be held in the Desert Lantern Restaurant from 5-7pm on Wednesday 26 July. There will be information sessions from lecturers and staff from Tourism and Hospitality, Support and Equity, Health Sciences, Student Services and Community Education.
