Study Year 11 at Lajamanu

Where is Lajamanu?

2006 has brought fantastic opportunities for Lajamanu Community Education Centre’s secondary high school students.

Situated in the Katherine region, Lajamanu is approximately 580 kilometres by road south west of Katherine with a modest population of 900 people.

Previously, Lajamanu Community Education Centre students who wanted to achieve their Northern Territory Certificate of Education were required to continue their studies via correspondence schooling.

For the first time Lajamanu Community Education Centre is offering Year 11, a move that has proved extremely popular with current and future students.

CDU’s secondary school liaison lecturer, Trisha Kohlweg said: “The Lajamanu students found the transition smoother and benefited by having familiar delivery style and the continued support of their teachers.”

The breakthrough represents a great opportunity for the students and the wider Lajamanu community to boost the education level of the region.

Currently there are nine women and twenty men in Year 11 at Lajamanu Community Education Centre.

Well done Lajamanu!
