Nestle Golden Chef's Hat regional finals 

 
 

Charles Darwin Univeristy's (CDU) School of Tourism and Hospitality, along with Nestlé and the Australian Culinary Federation, will host the Nestlé’s Golden Chef’s Hat regional finals on 5 July.

The Palmerston training kitchen and Karawa restaurant will be the location for the NT regional finals of the Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat, which is being contested by nine teams, including one from RAAF Tindal in Katherine.

Competitors have 15 minutes to view a mystery box of ingredients and one hour to prepare a three course menu for four people.

Competition starts at 10am, with presentation for entrée at 1pm, main course at 1.30pm and dessert at 2pm.

The winning team will be announced at the presentation cocktail from 3.00pm.

The competition will be judged by George Hill (national Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat coordinator), Bharat Desai (CDU commercial cookery lecturer) and Michael Cramer (director Jebfab) in the kitchen and judges for front of house are Geraldine Flynn (Darwin and Palmerston Sun) and Steve Sunk (CDU commercial cookery lecturer).

The winning team will represent the NT at the three-day all expenses paid national finals in Melbourne in September.

The national finals winning team will be awarded $12,000 ($6,000 for each team member) to be used for educational programs.

Local restaurants owners, chefs, apprentices and guests are invited to view the competition from 1pm. Nestlé representative will be promoting a range of products in Karawa training restaurant with free samples.
