Centre for Youth Music end of semester concert

The Centre for Youth Music (CYM) will perform their end of semester concert on Saturday 17 June from 10am.

The CYM is part of the School of Creative Arts and Humanities, and gives children as young as three years old the opportunity to learn to play music, with experienced and qualified tutors.

Students can take individual lessons on a number of instruments, and there are several ensemble groups that children can also participate in. The Darwin Youth Orchestra is the most senior group in the ensemble program.

All students taking individual tuition on an instrument through the CYM are encouraged to participate in the ensemble program to extend their skills in the areas of musicianship and to move from the isolation of individual practice into the sociable environment of group music making.

The end of semester concert ensemble groups to showcase their skills to parents, friends, and the general public.

The concert will take place in Building 17, Charles Darwin Theatre, Casuarina Campus.

The concert includes ensembles:

  • Beat It (percussions ensemble)
  • Junior music program, levels 1, 2 and 3
  • Beginner, intermediate and advanced guitars ensembles
  • The Fellowship (reed and brass ensemble)
  • The CYM Boys Choir
