DYO performs with Melbourne String Ensemble

The Darwin Youth Orchestra (DYO) performs their end of semester concert, North and South String Together, on Saturday 24 June from 7.30pm, and will be joined by the Melbourne String Ensemble.

The orchestra is the most senior ensemble in the Centre for Youth Music’s ensemble program and consists of around 40 students ranging in age from 12 to 18 years. They perform regularly at locations around Darwin.

The Melbourne String Ensemble, a dynamic and exciting string orchestra of secondary and tertiary students which regularly tours in Australia and abroad, will join the DYO in their end of semester concert. This will be the ensemble’s first visit to Darwin.

The program includes the Bach Double Violin Concerto, a Concerto Grosso by Handel and the Fourth Movement of Dvorak’s Eighth Symphony.

The concert will be held in the Charles Darwin University Theatre on Casuarina Campus. Tickets are available at the door at a cost of $10, $5 concession and $20 for families. All are welcome.
