The Darwin Youth Orchestra participated in the North Australian Eisteddfod on 17 May, taking out first place in their category, Secondary Ensemble, with ‘Aboriginal Rituals’ by Eliot De Borgo.
The orchestra were also credited with receiving the highest mark by adjudicator, Rosalind Carlson in the eisteddfod to that point. Mrs Carlson wrote of the performance, "...an extremely fine performance of such an exciting composition... Precision of the orchestra is admirable.”
The orchestra have been invited to perform at the Grand Finale Concert along with other outstanding eisteddfod winners which will be held on Friday the 26 May at the Darwin Entertainment Centre from 7.30pm.
