CDU represented on new Australian Pharmaceutical Council

Charles Darwin University is about to gain a voice on the new Australian Pharmacy Council (APC).

CDU’s Associate Professor of Pharmacy, Pascale Dettwiller has been invited to join the APC for three years, starting July 1.

Dr Dettwiller said the APC was a new national overarching body for the pharmacy sector.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to create a continuum of knowledge and skills from the former pharmacy boards into the new APC,” Dr Dettwiller said.

She said her appointment would coincide with a new national registration scheme, which aimed to create one national register for each healthcare profession that was governed by a board. “The state boards will amalgamate in one national board and the APC will be the overarching governing body,” she said.

“The public safety and the quality use of medicine have always been high on my agenda and I am looking forward to serving on this new regulatory body as an academic representing CDU.”

She is a member of the Pharmacy Board of Victoria.
