World game attracts students from around the globe

It wasn’t quite the World Cup final, but a recent soccer match between international and domestic students was still a huge hit with players and spectators.

The friendship soccer match, organised by the International Support Division of Support & Equity Services and CDU Sports, was held for new and continuing international and domestic students at the recent mid-year Orientation day.

Some 25 students, hailing from countries including France, China, Mexico, Denmark, Thailand, Sweden, Philippines, Japan, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Australia and the US, took to the playing field.

International Student Advisor, Vibeke Foss said it was great to see so many different nationalities connect over something as simple as a game of soccer.

The match ended up a 1-1 draw with eager students keen to play into the evening to break the deadlock.

The International Support Division and CDU Sport will organise more sport-related events through Semester 2.
