Youth and climate change discussion

This year, International Youth Day on 12 August has the theme Youth and Climate Change: Time for Action.

The selection of this theme is in recognition of the fact that climate change has already begun to devastate communities and deepen the effects of poverty and hunger. This situation complicates the challenges that youth face. However, young people are increasingly adding their voices to the call for action on climate change.

To encourage and empower young people in the Northern Territory to have their say on climate change, a presentation and discussion session has been organised, with support from the Environment Centre NT.

Young people (12-25 years) are invited to come along and hear Al Gore's climate change presentation, voice their concerns and discuss actions to engage young Territorians to take action.

Come along on Sunday 17 August 2008 from 2pm to 4pm at the Casuarina Shopping Centre Community Room.

If you have any questions or to RSVP please do not hesitate to contact Katie Chatto, Chairperson of the 2008 Youth Minister's Round Table for Young Territorians, at email katie.chatto@hotmail.com, mobile 0401 221 202.
