Territory FM is the most improved radio station in the Top End

Recent survey results have revealed community radio station Territory FM has increased its appeal and profile in the Top End market place.

Territory FM now boasts a 23 per cent of the listening audience and has also attracted two announcers from commercial radio broadcaster MIX 104.9.

James Perrin, aka JP of MIX 104.9’s breakfast show “JP and Wendy”, will co host his own breakfast program on Territory FM - 104.1 Darwin, 98.7 Alice Springs and 106.9 Nhulunbuy.

Former MIX 104.9 afternoon announcer Alice Burton will join Mr Perrin as breakfast co-host.

With more than six years of broadcasting experience under his belt Mr Perrin said he was looking forward to taking the next step in his career.

“Territory FM is a real listening alternative and one of the most professional community stations I’ve heard,” Mr Perrin said.

“It will be fun to play the music you don’t hear over and over again, especially the classics from the 1980’s, 90’s and today.”

Ms Burton said Territory FM offered a variety in both its music and local content.

“Territory FM has come a long way since its inception and I’m looking forward to contributing to its future growth and success. Working alongside a good friend is an added bonus,” she said.

Outgoing breakfast presenter Geoff Cannon is returning to Western Australia for family reasons after two years at the station.

Network Manager Peter Perrin said he was delighted with the recent survey results.

“The new appointments will bring experience, enthusiasm and vitality to the station and help capitalise on its recent ratings triumph,’’ he said.
