German ambassador Martin Lutz says he will explore the possibility of German students taking advantage of Charles Darwin University’s courses in tropical knowledge.

Mr Lutz, making his first visit to CDU’s Casuarina campus, said German students were likely to be very interested in the kind of tropical knowledge that the University had to offer.

‘I will be bringing this to the attention of German universities, and we may be able to establish some kind of relationships with Charles Darwin University.’

Mr Lutz, a career diplomat who has headed German embassies around the world and at the United Nations, was making his first official visit to the Northern Territory.

He held courtesy talks with Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Garnett accompanied by the NT’s German honorary consul Harry Maschke, a member of CDU’s Foundation.

Mr Maschke said the German community was the second biggest in Darwin.
