Dr Daniel Etya’ale presents ‘Addressing people’s health: Going beyond the medical’, on Wednesday 9 August from 3pm to 4pm.

Daniel is Vision 2020 coordinator, World Health Organization, Prevention of Blindness and Deafness Office. He promotes, develops and implements blindness prevention projects throughout Africa.

A highly skilled ophthalmologist from Cameroon, Daniel’s passion is to see the elimination of avoidable blindness through comprehensive, effective, and self-sustaining nationwide quality eye-care for the poorest of the poor. He is also a cardiac surgeon/specialist, who studied in Switzerland and Scotland, and has an extensive knowledge of health issues in developing nations, including through his work in rural and remote areas of Africa. He coordinates 60 eye health programs around the world.

Daniel visited the Katherine region in 2002 looking at the work of the Jawoyn Association and Fred Hollows Foundation. He was a guest speaker at the Garma Key Forum on Indigenous Education and Training (5-7 August).

This presentation takes place in Room 31.3.03 (above the cafeteria, opposite the library) on CDU’s Casuarina Campus.
