Steve Versteegh is leaving

Charles Darwin University (CDU) will farewell head of school, Trades, Steve Versteegh on Friday 4 August. Steve is leaving the University to take up the role of head of the Australian Apprentice Centre in the Northern Territory.

Steve started work at Centralian College in 1990 as an electrical lecturer, and progressed to master lecturer and course coordinator for electrical. In 1999 he became the head of division of the community, horticulture and technology sector.

After the formation of CDU in 2004, three previously independent areas were merged to create the School of Trades, and Steve successfully took on the head of school role in November 2003.

As head of trades, Steve has seen a marked increase in the number of apprentices studying with the institution – currently the school is responsible for the training of one third of the Territory’s total apprentice/trainee workforce (all disciplines). This is a remarkable achievement for Steve and the School of Trades.

We wish Steve all the best for the future.
