Beauty therapists to bring best out in models

Beauty therapy staff and students will put their skills to use during NT Fashion Week.

Many of Darwin’s most glamorous models will be at their dazzling best this week thanks partly to two Charles Darwin University vocational education and training lecturers.

Beauty therapists Kate Boland and Fionnuala Keogh, who run the beauty therapy classes at CDU’s Palmerston campus, have been selected as directors of make-up for the three marquee events during NT Fashion Week, from 22 May.

They will be responsible for ensuring some 40 models are picture perfect for the Milliner’s Garden Party and fashion shows for designers and retailers.

“We consider it an honour to have been selected to support an event with a vision to build a solid future for the Territory’s textile and design industries,” Ms Boland said.

“It will be a hectic and high-pressure week but it will provide several of our beauty therapy students with a perfect opportunity to put theory into practice.

“Seven of our Certificate III students will experience how fast-paced it gets when you’re preparing models for the cat walk.”
