Time arrives for musical ‘Tick, Tick, Boom’

The musical Tick, Tick, Boom is set to delight theatre-goers when it takes to the stage for a three-night season in Charles Darwin University’s Theatre from tonight (25 November).

Starring five of CDU’s most talented creative arts students, the play explores the doubts and anxieties of an aspiring composer who is worried that he’s made a bad career choice.

Directed by CDU Lecturer in Vocal Studies Paolo Fabris, the plot contains themes about growing up, responsibility, perseverance and chasing your dream.

“It is based on an autobiographical work by the award-winning American playwright Jonathan Larson,” he said.

Mr Fabris said it was the biggest production of the year for the Bachelor of Creative Arts and Industries students, who make up the entire cast and crew.

“It’s been five months in the making. We’ve put our hearts and souls into this and now we’re ready for the curtain to rise.”

Mr Fabris is an accomplished actor, singer and vocal coach with a passion for music.

He has directed numerous productions of Cats, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Wicked for San Carlo College in Milan.

Tick, Tick, Boom runs at the Charles Darwin University Theatre (Orange 3) 25-27 November from 7.30pm. Tickets $15 at door.
