School principals from the Darwin region met at Charles Darwin University today to build their capacity to interpret their school’s student literacy data.
The program developed by CDU’s Centre for School Leadership, Learning and Development aims to assist NT principals to interpret the recently released NAPLAN results.
The Centre’s Executive Director Professor Kathryn Moyle said that today’s event brought together 60 school principals and their leadership teams from around Darwin to undertake the program to build their leadership towards student literacy.
“The program has been developed in response to a review of NT schools by Chief Executive of the Australian Council for Educational Research Dr Geoff Masters,” Professor Moyle said. “This report included suggestions for the sort of professional learning NT principals required to understand the literacy data they receive.”
Professor Moyle said the program would be offered in each region of the NT including Arnhem, Alice Springs, Barkly and Palmerston during Term 4 2011 or at the beginning of 2012.
