Charles Darwin University’s Casuarina campus will throw open its doors on Sunday August 28 for a free day of family fun as it showcases the best it offers in education and training. And the five-hour Open Day program contains some big name acts as entertainment.
The day will allow members of the wider community to explore the Territory’s own university and discover how CDU is contributing to improving the quality of life for Territorians, through research, teaching and training, and partnerships.
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover said the Open Day was an opportunity for people to see the development of the campus both in terms of infrastructure and education and training programs.
“Visitors can expect to gain a sense of why one in 11 Territorians aged over 15 chose to study with us last year, how our research is impacting lives nationally and internationally, and how we are taking a key role in the quest to develop a sustainable future,” Professor Glover said.
The public will be able to view the latest additions to the campus including the gym and sports precinct, and the state-of-the-art CDU Pharmacy and Flinders Medical buildings that are now training the Territory’s first crop of doctors.
Visitors will be in for a treat with headline act Jebediah landing on the stage after their winter tour to showcase their new album Kosciuszko.
Prospective students can also find out about CDU’s learning technologies and flexible study options with staff on hand to provide advice on study and training interests, the many ways to access education at CDU, including online, and how to enrol at CDU.
The full day of entertainment on offer includes workshops, exhibitions, campus tours, seminars, interactive displays and workshops, free entertainment including appearances by Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants, rides, food and competitions.
The CDU Open Day will run from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, 28 August 2011. Keep your eye on this website for program details http://www.cdu.edu.au/openday/.
