Hairdressing apprentices and VET in Schools students flaunted their talents at an Alice Springs fashion show recently to a packed audience and plenty of admirers.
Charles Darwin University VET students and volunteer models took to the stage at the campus restaurant, Desert Lantern, with more than 90 friends, family and industry figures cheering them on.
The 11 VET in Schools students, apprentices and their models showcased adventurous hair styles and fashions on a custom catwalk setup.
Contemporary styles with animalistic tones, Gothic influences and desert colours gave the audience a broad sweep of fashion and hair interpretations.
CDU hairdressing VET lecturer Maggie Prow said the show was organised to recognise all students and she enjoyed the opportunity to prove their talents.
"It boosts their confidence and shows the guests what these up-and-coming apprentices are capable of," she said.
Darwin-based industry consultant Wade Lloyd travelled to Alice Springs for the event and said the students’ work was of a high standard.
"It was great to see such refreshing styles come through and I enjoyed the experience," he said.
The show is run annually to recognise and promote the achievements of students.
