Passion – Lyricism – Drama

Concert 1:  Tantalising Tchaikovsky
An All Tchaikovsky Night – A Unique Experience

The Darwin Symphony presents the first concert in its Cycle of Tchaikovsky Symphonies, conducted by the American composer Michael Morgan and featuring the brilliant young soloist Katherine Lukey.

Come and be swept up in the overt romanticism and powerful musical passages of this exceptional Russian composer. From soaring melodies to heavy dramatic passages and a lyrical and passionate music alluding to a better world, Tchaikovsky’s music represents the basic humanity in us all.

Hear not one, but three of Tchaikovsky’s most outstanding works, by the Territory’s own Darwin Symphony Orchestra:

• Cappricio Italien;
• Violin Concerto in D major; and
• Symphony No. 6, commonly known as the Pathétique.
