General information session - Tropical cyclone briefing

The Bureau of Meteorology and Northern Territory Emergency Services present their public education campaign at Casuarina campus on Wednesday 12 December.

Interesting information about cyclones will be discussed and this opportunity also serves as a good reminder about what preparations are necessary in the event of a cyclone.

CDU’s Finance and Asset Services provide staff with general cyclone and emergency advice and Horst Walter from People Management and Development will be at the briefing to address any CDU-specific questions which managers and staff may have. Other presenters: Todd Smith, Bureau of Meteorology and Annika Woerle, Public Education and Development, NTES.

This briefing provides staff with important and interesting information including:

  • What is a Cyclone?
  • What can be expected?
  • What should you do?
  • Being prepared for a Cyclone, such as emergency kits, warnings, pre-cyclone clean ups, etc.
  • Preparing residents for a tropical cyclone by being made aware of threats and risks associated with the area.

This information session takes place from 11am to 12pm in the Mal Nairn Auditorium (C35.00/01), Casuarina Campus (also available via video-link to other campuses, by request).
