Carlo Barone teaches students about 19th century performance literature

Darwin guitar enthusiasts had a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s best guitarists as part of the Seventh Darwin International Guitar Festival’s series of master classes.

Students relished the chance to learn from many of the Festival’s leading performers in an intimate workshop environment.

Artists presenting master classes as part of the festival included:

  • Italian Carlo Barone, who presented a practice summer course on 19th century performance literature
  • Australian Guitar Quartet, Saffire;
  • Internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso Eduardo Fernandez;
  • Flamenco guitarist Oscar Guzman; and
  • German guitarist Oliver Fartach-Naini.

Renowned Australian guitar teacher Isolde Schaupp also presented a lecture during the festival period on overcoming yourself by understanding the causes and symptoms of performance anxiety.
