Elizabeth with Dr Sean Cox, who will be taking on her role as Senior HE Adviser with AQPVET

Academic Quality, Planning and VET’s Elizabeth Desailly is retiring to north Queensland with her husband Garrett Gundry.

An active contributor to university life for over 20 years Elizabeth will be greatly missed by students, staff and the whole CDU community. Her contribution to Charles Darwin University and preceding institutions has been vast; she has held many positions including:

  • Lecturer, course coordinator
  • Head of School
  • Palmerston Campus manager
  • Associate Dean Teaching & Learning
  • Joint Chair Academic Board
  • Chair TAFE Board
  • Member of Council

Elizabeth’s recent work with the Office of Academic Quality, Planning and VET has been focused on improving course offerings in higher education, most evident in her active leadership and support of the CARP process.

Elizabeth’s commitment to the Northern Territory has also been paramount with numerous community roles including:

  • President YWCA
  • Member of the Youth Programs Committee of the NT
  • Board of Directors Working Women Centre
  • Convener, Friend of the State Library
  • Long term member of the Labor Party

Elizabeth will be missed by all and is said to welcome any stray CDU visitors who may venture near Kuranda.

Dr Sean Cox will commence as the Senior HE Adviser with AQPVET on 16 July. Sean will continue to spend one day a week in the School of Science and Primary Industries. He brings strong academic credentials to AQPVET and is looking forward to working proactively with all staff in supporting quality at CDU.
