Director of Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) Learning Research Group, Ruth Wallace, has recently been recognised with an award from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER).
Ms Wallace of the School of Education was honored with a 2007 NCVER New Researcher Award.
NCVER is the national agency for commissioning research on vocational and technical education (VTE). One of NCVER's roles is to build and support a sustainable research capacity.
Ms Wallace explained the award came as a great surprise but further demonstrates CDU’s research strengths particularly in vocational education.
‘CDU and the NCVER are committed to attracting experienced researchers into the VTE field, encouraging early career researchers, and supporting those already working in the sector to branch out into research,’ she said.
One of NCVER’s current initiatives is to encourage new researchers to present a paper at the 16th National Vocational Education and Training Research Conference.
The awards will be presented at the conference, to be held at CDU’s Alice Springs Campus from 11-13 July.
