The new training bakery on Palmerston Campus is up and running with bakery students filling the campus with the aroma of freshly baked croissants, breads and donuts.

The Karawa Training Restaurant will open for the semester on March 22. A schedule of restaurant dates for semester 1, including three course dinners, lunches an Indian buffet night is now available. Bookings are essential. To make a booking or obtain the restaurant schedule, phone 8946 7800.

The campus Beauty Salon opens for the semester on March 15. The salon will open on Thursdays from 9am to 4.30pm. Treatments include waxing, manicures, make-up, facials and massage. For an appointment contact 8946 7896 and leave a message advising the treatment you would like to have.

The Hairdressing Salon is now open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9am and 5pm. To make an appointment phone 8946 7943.

Upcoming short courses

The School of Tourism and Hospitality held the first in a series of cookery hobby classes last weekend. Upcoming classes include:

  • Cooking for lovers: A is for Aphrodisiac on April 21
  • International vegetarian cooking on May 5
  • Knife skills and Asian lunch on May 26
  • Malaysian and Chinese cookery on June 16

Courses are open to the public at a cost of $50 per session, which includes recipes and a glass of beer or wine with lunch. For more information or to make a booking, phone 8946 7800.

A responsible service of alcohol course will be held at Palmerston Campus on March 14, in the Karawa training Restaurant, building B. The course is open to the public; phone 8946 7800 or email tracey.newman@cdu.edu.au.

Indigenous work experience program

24-hour student computer lab

The Palmerston Campus 24-hour student computer lab will soon be moving to building C. The new lab will be open shortly; in the meantime students should continue to use the computer lab in building A.11.
