CDU instrumental in developing Francis' career

Charles Darwin University graduate, Francis De Silva Jr, points to his time at CDU as being instrumental in developing his academic as well as his professional career.

Francis, who graduated with a Bachelor of Information Technology in 2002, is one of the few CDU graduates to hold a management position in a Northern Territory Government department.

Since August 2006, Francis has been appointed as the Acting Manager of the Data Warehousing section, Northern Territory Department of Health.

Francis was quick to acknowledge that pivotal role that his lectures played during his university studies which have ultimately enabled him to achieve the highs he has.

‘I am extremely grateful to have had the quality of lectures I enjoyed throughout my university studies. They underpin the professional success I have experienced in a relatively short period of time,’ he explained.

Francis, who is also studying a business degree, shunned southern universities early in his career for one simple reason.

‘CDU is an excellent young university with great academic staff who are not only professional but also extremely helpful and approachable at all times.'

Francis is hoping to graduate with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in accounting, in September 2007.
