The Charles Darwin University (CDU) rural campus at Katherine has donated used computers to local organisation Nitmuluk Tours to assist staff training.

Nitmuluk Tours are based at the Nitmiluk National Park. Seven Indigenous students participating in the Pathfinders Traineeship in Tourism and Retail are completing work placements at the tour company.

Katherine administrator Vicki Williams said the decommissioned computers were powerful enough to be used to meet the learning needs of the students.

‘Nitmuluk Tours required PCs that could access the internet and run standard training programs,’ she said. ‘We found they were fine for the job.’

Kevin Grey from NT Technology, service provider for Nitmiluk Tours said the CDU’s donation was appreciated.

‘The computers will certainly be put to good use,’ he said.
