Kate Young provides an update on the latest activities at Charles Darwin University’s Tennant Creek Centre.

Charles Darwin University Driver Education lecturer Noel Trembath will be offering training in the use of heavy rigid vehicles to students in Tennant Creek from this week.

This follows the successful delivery of driver training by Alan Harrison at the start of the year.

Trades lecturer Dale Atkinson is up from the Alice Springs campus delivering units from the Certificate I in Engineering to a group of students at Tennant Creek High School as part of VETiS funded programs.

A group of six students have commenced the Tertiary Enabling Program, following information and enrolment sessions by Dr Richard Head in August 2005 and February 2006.

Literacy and Numeracy lecturer Joanne Kearney has been in Alice Springs this week undertaking professional development in LLNP.

Three Tennant Creek trainees have completed their course requirements this week: Kobie Dickson in Certificate III in Business (Administration), Nova Pomare in Certificate III in Financial Services and Samantha Roberts in Certificate II in Library and Information Services.

Congratulations also to Pauline Jones who completed her Certificate II in Business last week.

The coordinator of Pathways Karrina Betschart and Indigenous Liaison Officer Lorraine St Clair are visiting this week to discuss Indigenous academic support with students from Tennant Creek High School.

Karrina will also sign the Letter of Intent with the principal to strengthen the relationship between CDU and the school.

Tennant Creek Centre Leader, Kate Young, will be holding an information session for the new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, with the first few units delivered through Learnline.
