The International Office has kicked off its promotion schedule for 2006 with activities in India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Korea and Indonesia.
As part of the student recruitment strategy, Charles Darwin University participates in a suite of overseas promotional activities such as seminars and interview programs.
One of these recent student recruitment exhibitions was the Austrade Study in Australia Exhibition held in Indonesia. Indonesia is an important market for CDU, and one which the International Office will be increasing its focus on in 2006.
For the first time, Austrade Exhibition was held not only in Jakarta, but also Surabaya and Medan, allowing institutions to build a profile outside of the capital.
CDU participated in this event in both Jakarta and Surabaya, with strong interest shown by postgraduate students said Fiona Richards, Manager International Marketing and Recruitment.
“Students showed promising interest in both postgraduate coursework and research study options, but with many of these students preparing to apply for AusAid and other government funded scholarships, it will be 12 to 18 months before students commence study at CDU,” said Ms Richards.
“This means we need to maintain a presence in the market to ensure we remain a strong choice for students as they undertake their scholarship process and finalise their study options.”
During the Austrade Exhibition, the importance of face-to-face contact within the Indonesian market, in terms of contact with both education agents and potential students was highlighted by Australian Education International. The International Office has taken this advice, and has increased activity in the market in 2006.
