CDU researcher heads for Arizona to study tree-rings

Professor David Bowman, Director of the School for Environmental Research at Charles Darwin University, has been awarded the 2006 Haury Visiting Scholar.

The fellowship will allow Professor Bowman to expand his knowledge on dendrochronology at the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (LTRR) based at the University of Arizona.

Dendrochronology is the dating of past events (climatic changes) through study of tree ring growth.

Professor Bowman is excited to be given this opportunity to expand his expertise in forest ecology and is hoping to apply this training to his research into Australian forest ecology.
