DSO's Arabian Nights

Martin Jarvis prepares for the concert. We think it is Martin!

The Darwin Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Martin Jarvis, features Scheherazade as part of its Arabian Nights performance tonight (Friday) at the Darwin Entertainment Centre from 8pm.

Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade is a musical representation of The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, and will be performed in the second half of this great night of entertainment.

The concert opens with Carl Maria von Weber’s Der Freischutz followed by cello solos by CDU lecturer, Rebecca Harris.

Rebecca performs DSO’s first cello solo in 14 years, playing Max Bruch’s Kol Nidrei and Antonin Dvorak’s Silent Woods.

Arabian Nights will be performed at the Darwin Entertainment Centre playhouse theatre from 8pm tonight. Phone the DEC Box Office for bookings on 8980 3333.
