Bonding over lunch

Wednesday lunches are an opportunity for academic staff to network with Darwin-based businessmen and women

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, you might think.

Well, there is for Charles Darwin University staff and the business community over the next few weeks at Karawa, the Palmerston Campus training restaurant.

Wednesday lunches are an opportunity for academic staff to network with Darwin-based businessmen and women who have connections with the University as employers of graduates or are involved in training partnerships.

Last week was the turn of media and engineering businesses to fraternise over lunch with CDU staff, and this week will be the turn of the information technology specialists and further engineering businesses.

Next week CDU staff will lunch with health industry specialists and tourism and hospitality businesses.

“It’s an opportunity for University people to mix with the business community and do a spot of bonding,” says organiser Diana Jarvis, the manager of external relations.

“It also showcases the Karawa restaurant, which is the training restaurant for VET students in hospitality.”

The restaurant regularly opens for lunches and dinners that are open to the public. Bookings are essential.
