CDU to host Chemistry Prize Night 2006

Charles Darwin University’s Casuarina Campus is set to play host to the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Chemistry Prize Night for 2006.

The prize giving night, to be held on Wednesday 1 November, attracts students, teachers and parents from both primary and secondary schools.

Lecturer in chemistry, Vinutha Ramakrishna, explained the prize night is an occasion where we celebrate the achievements of primary, secondary and tertiary students in the Northern Territory who have achieved well in the field of chemistry.

“Each year the Chemical Institute awards a number of prizes to school students to encourage them to take up chemistry as a profession or just to become more interested in the subject,” she said.

“Key highlights of the evening this year will include a presentation from a chemistry graduate of CDU illustrating how their career in chemistry has developed since leaving the University.”

The Chemistry Prize Night will be held on Wednesday 1 November from 6pm at the Mal Nairn Auditorium.
