Outstanding success for CDU at NT Vocational Training Awards 

 
 

At a gala function at Sky City Casino on Saturday night, Charles Darwin University (CDU) was presented with the Training Provider of the Year Award. This award recognises a Registered Training Organisation that demonstrates outstanding achievements in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training.

In accepting the Award, Professor Charles Webb, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Teaching and Learning, acknowledged the outstanding efforts of academic and administrative staff across all areas of the University.

The night was a great success for CDU, with trainers and students also being recognised.

Austin Ashe Apprentice of the Year

Winner: Michael Lane, Certificate III in Plumbing, Drainage and Gas Fitting

Runner Up: Samantha Harbrow, Certificate III in Electrotechnology - Systems Electrician

Trainee of the Year

Winner: Mitchell Beagley, Certificate II in the Seafood Industry (Aquaculture)

Vocational Student of the Year

Winner: Huw Brokensha, Certificate IV in Business

School Based Apprentice or Trainee of the Year

Winner: Amanda Serif, Certificate II in Clothing Production

VET in Schools Student of the Year

Winner: Brooke Rainbird, Certificate II in Tourism Operations

VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award

Winner: Amanda Cawthorne-Crosby, Alice Springs Campus Children’s Services

Runner Up: Ty Lee, Palmerston Campus Commercial Cookery

Training Initiative Award

This award was presented to Group Training NT for the Essential Services Operator program in remote communities. CDU provides the training for this program.
