Professor Liz Cartwright's CDU experience

Associate Professor Elizabeth Cartwright from the University of Idaho recently visited Charles Darwin University (CDU) for a series of talks on cross-cultural health issues.

Associate Professor Cartwright, who arrived at CDU on 31 July for a two-day visit, is the director of Hispanic Health Projects and works in the Department of Anthropology.

There she directs the Hispanic Health Project and engages community members, academic professionals, service providers and policy makers in efforts that increase health status and health awareness of Hispanics in southeast Idaho and Mexico.

Graduate School for Health Practice research fellow, Dr Suzanne Belton, commented on the value of Associate Professor Cartwright’s visit: “Elizabeth took the time to meet with numerous CDU staff and gave some formal and informal talks which were of great significance to us.

“Elizabeth is a nurse and medical anthropologist who specialises in working with minority populations and cross-cultural health issues, a major area that Australia’s shares with America,” Suzanne said.
