Nhulunbuy campus strengthening contacts

Over the last two weeks CDU’s Nhulunbuy Campus has been busy strengthening existing contacts resulting in promising new prospects.

Alcan

Marie-Claire Cull, marketing and communications manager with Corporate Communications, and Adelia Mu-Prasad, coordinator, Careers and Student Recruitment, met with Kaili Ford, training manager and Sherry Stewart, training coordinator from Alcan to raise awareness of study options at Charles Darwin University (CDU).

This meeting was successful, with Alcan inviting CDU for a further on-site visit in September to present more detailed course information to its staff. Further discussions will take place to ensure that the suite of courses to be offered is in line with Alcan's internal career structure and strategic direction.

Marie-Claire and Adelia were taken on a tour of the refinery by Kaili and Sherry, which provided a clear understanding of the working environment of Alcan employees in that area.

Groote Eylandt

Paul Fitzsimons, director, Remote Coordination, Grant Butler, remote lecturer BIITE, Terry Anstiss, DEET, and Carina Bekkers, campus administrator, recently flew to Groote Eylandt for a day visit.

The main aim for the day was to further develop CDU’s relationship with the communities and GEMCo. All were frank about their expectations from a training provider and clear on what they would require in the short and long term.

Paul, Grant, Terry and Carina left the island with many things to follow up on and to prepare for future discussions with the communities and GEMCo.
